Casey worked in partnership with Oldham Council and First Choice Homes to acquire and bring forward council owned sites in the Derker area for the development of 51 new build residential units complete with associated hard and soft landscaping, siteworks, car parking, drainage, services and connections to provide a complete scheme.
The project and public/private sector partnering arrangement has provided the local council with a significant amount of positive publicity, providing evidence of how the council is actively engaging with the private sector to regenerate the Derker area.
The land, on which the scheme is built, had many areas of slopping. Site levels were uneven, and Acre Lane rose in a northerly direction to the approximate centre of the site before falling again to the northern end. The maximum level difference along Acre Lane was approximately 6m. The western side of Acre Lane also comprised a strip of land formerly occupied by housing.
