Casey have recently completed a programme of external refurbishment works to a 13-storey tower block at Ellison House, Ashton-under-Lyne as part of a wider programme of tower block up-grades.
The works included the removal of existing EWI and renew, install new wall ties, replace existing windows and doors, main roof and external lighting and decorate.
In addition, we upgraded the entrance, balcony re-cladding and converted store areas into additional accommodation.
The EWI installation, which financially accounted for 98% of the measured works in the original contract. We worked closely with the client to design other elements of the scheme, such as re-roofing and replacement of existing windows, this was then signed off by BTP.
“We are pleased with the way Casey’s have offered support to the association with a number of queries throughout the contract. The contract had increased in value substantially and we are grateful for the expertise Casey’s were able to offer in helping us decide appropriate design solutions, based on their experience. In addition, we have been offered a number of opportunities to reduce costs throughout the contract. This has been particularly important, as the initial scheme was budgeted at a fraction of the final account figures.
I would also like to make comment on the professionalism of all staff involved within this contract. All parties will be aware of the difficulties faced throughout the programme and having a good team to offer assistance when required is key.” Ashton Pioneer
Live Residential Dwelling and Tenant Liaison
The scheme was completely occupied throughout and therefore resident liaison was important. We held weekly coffee mornings, ensure our RLO was on site throughout the day and provided an emergency number for evenings.
