Project Overview

Casey worked with First Choice Homes Oldham to make their two towers more energy efficient. As part of the investment at both sites, new exterior wall insulation has been fitted along with a new roofing system and replacement double glazed windows, boosting the thermal efficiency of the buildings to help customers to save on energy bills.

The new system is non-combustible mineral wool insulation suitable for buildings of this nature and fully compliant with building regulations and guidance. At Littlemoor House we also renewed old metal balustrading and re-coated balcony floors, replaced existing external bin chute, renew old rainwater pipes and fire stopping works.

The project was part of the housing association’s vision for the future of Oldham.

Programming

The works to Littlemoor House in Oldham and Montgomery House in Hollinwood were completed simultaneously through careful programme management. First Choice Homes Oldham wanted to refurbish the buildings to improve the overall energy performance of the existing structures and enhance the aesthetics of the building.

The exterior wall insulation is clearly visible from the M60 motorway and was stripped back to deliver major external improvements for around 100 residents.

Live residential dwelling and tenant liasion

When window installations were carried out in conjunction with the EWI, internal access was required. Our highly trained and experienced Resident Liaison Officers (RLOS’), one for each tower block, worked closely with customers through consultation events, one-to-one appointments, pre-entry surveys, letters and visits to minimise no-access occurrences and try to ensure the ‘buy-in’ of all stakeholders. Prior to commencement we will have met with each resident to understand their daily movements and programme the works to their property accordingly. Alternatively, we can provide our key handling service.
