Project overview

Working in partnership with various Sheffield council departments, Sanctuary Housing, local police, and numerous other consultants, we undertook major street scene improvement works to one of the largest social housing estates in the country. The main focus was to fully embrace community engagement in order to develop the design, with  local residents taking ownership of the final completed scheme. Our full scope of works included:

  • Reconstruction of around 30km of footway
  • Sensitive removal of roadside trees
  • Installation of over 1000 new street lighting columns
  • Installation of 30 new communal gardens and off highway parking areas
  • Specialist resin surfaces at road junctions to create a safer shared space environment
  • Upgrading of ginnels to provide safe routes across the estate
  • New road signage and streetscene including utilising high quality embossed timber bollards
  • Restoration of around 100 original cast iron lighting columns decorated with designs from local youth groups.
