Casey Employee Wellbeing and Resilience Day

On Friday 28th October all Casey employees gathered at the spectacular Gorton Monastery for our Employee Wellbeing and Resilience Day. This was a first for Casey where we completely closed the business down for the day.

We had a brilliant compere in the form of Brad Waldron. He brought enthusiasm and passion to the day.

Our first speaker of the day was Chris Casey, our Group Managing Director, he wanted to open up to everyone about his past and his struggles in the hope that this would make everyone feel safe and comfortable opening up about their mental health whilst at work.

Next up we had an inspiring talk from Jason Fox, former Royal Marine Commando and Special Forces Sergeant turned TV Presenter and Best-Selling Author. Jason shared his mental health journey with us and explained what mechanisms he has adopted to overcome these challenges. He talked to us about the ethos he lives by, how to self-check-in and the special forces way to name a few. Jason was kind enough to stick around over lunch and have a chat and some photographs with employees which everyone was very grateful for.

Steven Stanbury from Wellbeing Solutions was next to take the stage. He provided a background to Wellbeing Solutions and the services they provide. Everyone at Casey, including family members have access to the free service for any issues they are struggling with.

We then showcased a video of some brave colleagues who spoke about the help they have received from Casey, the people they work side by side with, the HR team, Business Support and examples of employees who have used the Wellbeing Solution service themselves. We want to thank them all for taking part.

The final part of the day consisted of a panel of Casey employees including Sarah, Matt and Ryan. They openly spoke about the challenges they have faced from grief to anxiety and depression and how Casey had supported them. This was a very moving and emotional part of the day.

We want to thank everyone for their contribution and being open minded about the event. We hope that if you are ever struggling you are able to talk.

We used live polling throughout the day to gauge thoughts and opinions, compiling data to ensure our efforts are being focused on the problems which Casey employees face.

Employee wellbeing and resilience is a key priority at Casey and there will be much more to follow after the success of this event.
