Casey Support the Lancashire Destination Green Skills Bootcamp

In July 2024, we were delighted to work with the UK Skills Academy to deliver the first Lancashire Destination Green Skills Bootcamp as part of our appointment as Main Contractor on the Shadsworth Estate regeneration project.

A group of eight eager learners attended the two week bootcamp tailored to equip them with sector-specific skills, enabling them to fast-track their way to job interviews. Part of the Government’s ambitious Lifetime Skills Guarantee and Plan for Jobs, this £3 billion initiative aims to bridge the skills gap exacerbated by the COVID-19 disruption in various job sectors and industries.

Supporting trainers from the UK Skills Academy, our Health & Safety Manager, Phil Hey delivered a safety focused presentation along with a face-fitting session and our partner, Julie Ryder from HearFirst carried a Mental Health Awareness Session.

On the final day, our Social Impact Executive, John Walmsley carried out an interview session with the trainees, beginning the transitioning of the learners into the workplace.
