Primary School Students First To Visit Lea Green Train Station
In May 2024, Casey invited 90 students from local school, Eaves Primary School in St Helen’s to our site at Lea Green Train Station to be the first to visit the new multi-storey car park and ticket office, constructed on behalf of Northern.
Working in partnership with our client, Northern and Project Managers, Vextrix, the visits, spread over three days were organised to introduce the students not only to their new park and ride facility but also to promote future careers in construction.
The Casey and Vextrix team gave the children a full tour of the site, explaining the different materials and techniques used on the project and even providing them with the opportunity to use the new ticket booth, compete with speaker system which was a real hit with all the students! Our Trainee Site Engineer Ewan Clouston also gave the children an insight into his experience of beginning his career in the construction industry.
The visit was complete with an exciting train journey from Lea Green to Liverpool Lime Street and back, where the students were provided with goody bags and activity packs inviting them to spot the different stations they passed...

"It was a great opportunity for my daughter to see behind the scenes at the station. Hopefully, she'll feel confident using the station in the future with her friends - she may even become a site manager!" - Laura, student parent.
"We were delighted to welcome the children of Eaves Primary School to Lea Green Train Station over 3 days to see first-hand the improvements made at the station, a fantastic local facility that they can be proud of and use for many years to come. Through the hard work of our office staff, site team and our valued partners Vextrix and Northern, the event was a huge success with the children really enjoying the experience. We are about Improving Lives, and this event encapsulates our commitment to providing positive social impact through giving back to the local communities in which we are working" - John Walmsley, Casey Social Impact Executive.
The new station with additional car parking spaces has been designed and built to encourage people in the area to use more sustainable modes of transport. The scheme seeks to improve transport connectivity in and around Lea Green Station for the 500,000 passengers who already use the station every year as well as encouraging new passengers to try rail travel.
